Start in the film-attachment search
NFRC’s applied-film directory opens with manufacturer selection. Use the exact identity from the document you are checking, then follow the matching film record. A familiar brand name is not enough to establish that the record describes the product in front of you.
- Match the identity
Keep the manufacturer, product name and CPD number together. Note any application distinction.
- Keep the reference configuration
Read the reference-glazing and operator-type fields before taking a rating. Preserve the row that belongs to the value.
- Retain the comparison labels
Where no-film and with-film values are shown, label them explicitly. Do not separate one number from the column and row that define it.
- Save a traceable citation
Record the source URL and lookup date with your notes. Reopen the live record when the information is needed for a later decision.
Why the row matters
The live SGF-K-063 record provides an example of the directory’s structure: one named film is shown across several reference-glazing configurations. The record includes U-factor and separate no-film/with-film fields for SHGC and VT.
We link to the record rather than extract a favorable number. This is an illustration of how to read the fields, not a product recommendation or an audit of a manufacturer’s full certification range.
Read the label explanation at the right level
NFRC’s film-program fact sheet explains reference-glazing labels: U-factor concerns heat transfer, SHGC concerns solar heat gain, and VT concerns transmitted visible light. Keep the stated unit or scale with each value. The explanatory fact sheet is background, not a complete current certification procedure.
This reference does not repeat a consumer glossary or predict project savings. Its purpose is to help you carry a directory result forward without losing the identity, configuration or measurement it belongs to.
If the match is unclear, leave it open
Check spelling, manufacturer and the full designation again. If you still cannot reconcile the claimed product with a record, ask the issuer for the specific applicable reference. An unsuccessful search is not, by itself, proof that no record exists.
A record lookup does not establish glass compatibility, installation quality, legal compliance or protective performance. Those are separate questions with separate evidence. Avoid turning one kind of rating into a general approval.
